I worked for a few months (July 19 – Dec. 20, 2012) and it just wasn’t working for me, too long hours! During that time i was with my sister during the birth of my niece, it put a whole new perspective on my lil world! When I saw the support she got from her husband, my heart was filled with compassion for young girls that have to go through that pain as a young girl with no husband or possibly even family at her side, I could not imagine! And the thought of them having an abortion rather than facing all that scariness alone whirled in my head…. Someone needs to be there for them!! And lots of people thought that me watching a birth would scare me out of becoming pregnant, well, I don’t really know why, but it didn’t, yes it looked crazy painful, but the miracle of it excited me. And it took away some of the ‘unknown’ for me and just put a passion in me, I would stand through that again with anyone just to give them the support to make it through! I just figured it would affect everyone that way, that they would stand up n support anyone during a delivery, but I guess not, some of my friends were like, uh they wouldn’t wanna be ‘paid’ to watch someone else go thru it, it’s bad enough going through it for themselves! My one friend was like, Go for it, you would be good standing beside someone at a time like that. But I didn’t want to go after it just cuz I’d be “good at it”. But I asked, “God, is that something you would want out of me”? And so God started prodding me…
For a few {ok, alot of} fun facts about me: Don’t ask me to talk much in the morning until I had my coffee {black}, unless its a White Caramel Mocha from Starbucks. I have a tendency to push important jobs to the back because when I do them they have to be done right, & in an organized fashion. I can get something done very quickly, but for true satisfaction all the details must be covered. Being outdoors, especially in flowerbeds and the garden is one of my favorite past-times. Also I love sunning and swimming-there is absolutely nothing quite like soaking up the sun and sweating it out. [this crazy girl says, the more heat the better!] Summer is my favorite season {obviously}. Pink is my go-to color, red also does quite nicely. White chocolate or caramel candy {or pretty much anything sweet} is the bomb! Full Moon are the best times of the month. Horses and anything cowboy is sure to attract my attention and money, they are such elegant creatures and I wish I could ride one. Christmas is my all-time favorite holiday, Valentine’s day follows. Birthdays [and now Anniversaries] are so super important to me, don’t ask me why?! I’m like a kid when it comes to birthdays-probably cuz gifts make me feel so loved. Snail mail is still pretty cool I think. I wonder how it would be to be an actor. My emotions are best expressed crying alone. Seemingly I can’t hide how I’m feeling very well. People say when I am around my cheer n laughter is contagious to everyone-I think it comes more from my jabbering n outgoing personality. Sometimes I wish I was naturally quiet. Family and friends are the best thing to surround yourself in, have lots of them. But be all alone somedays. Falling stars are a promise to me. I am not afraid to be different. Kids make my life complete, I can’t imagine life without them and I would do anything to make a kid feel loved. Helping people makes my heart sing. Enjoyment in playing games was handed down to me from my mom and my grandpa, I hope to pass it on to my children. Always use your manners and tell people you appreciate what they are doing is IMPORTANT to me. Change is one of the best inventions of all time, it might be hard sometimes, but it is sooooo exciting!!!!:)
So these are just merely things I enjoy and appreciate, the real passion of my life are relationships.
My relationship with my Lord, my husband, my family and friends.
These are the things that matter the most in life and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
I’ve heard plenty people complaining about people that post about their ‘perfect little life’ all the time, and even though I think we have a perfect lil life and am extremely happy, I just want you to know we are NOT perfect, we struggle, we disagree, we don’t always get everything done we wish we could, we make each other cry, but that means we are normal people who have been redeemed by an incredibly great God and thats how we can have joy through imperfections. I don’t ever want to be a discouragement to others, one who makes everything look perfect all the time; but I also want what I post to be for the most part, refreshing and beautiful. The world is constantly focusing on and portraying all things ugly, i don’t feel the need to add to it. But in the times when things are a lil rough, i have folders full of pictures and diaries filled with memories reminding me of all the good times we’ve had! Even if no one would ever read my blog or comment, I would still post just the same-not only am I remembering all the things that I have to be grateful for, it makes me actually sit down from busy life and journal it all. My desire is that your time here will be edifying and encouraging, whether it be through heart thoughts or snapshots into our daily life. May it make you smile.
I started this blog for 3 reasons which will tell you a lot about me.
#1. Documenting. Important details, Journaling or a diary, Taking note of ‘happenings’ has always been of great importance to me, I don’t know how many journals/tablets/diaries/notes you would find should you dig through my ‘packed-up boxes’, but it would be alot! Ever since I was around the age of 12, I documented things, it wasn’t always consistent, but if someone wanted to know when we had a big day of freezing corn last year(or anything random)-it was probably me they would come to to find out when that was. So my goal here is to document any important things that take place in our life together -however big or small- whether it be personal, about us, and as we begin our family. Through writing and pictures-fun things that I don’t want to forget. I want it to be a treasure chest filled with memories and love recorded to be pulled up at any time. And lessons learned through hard times to see God’s faithfulness. I would like for my children to be able to browse through it and be blessed! Family is so very important to me and I always want to make that a priority, even on here!
I will also be sharing on our journey of ttc & our involvement in providing Foster care.
#2. Writing. I mentioned journaling. If I need to process something, the best way I can do so is through writing. I also love talking, so sometimes that works too, but I tend to be a very loyal person, so usually the only way I will spill out what I am going through to you is if I trust you to be honest and true as my friend. I don’t want you to be my friend because you think you should be, I want you to be my friend because you care and want to be my friend. And well, Proverbs 27:6 is what I think of when I know who my friends are. But if it’s a personal thing I have learned that writing is one of my best outlets and a pen n paper is a dear friend indeed, especially if I ‘need to figure it out’.. So I’m not gonna spill my ‘uncensored’ guts on here but I do love writing when I’m processing something. So I may share my deep thoughts and lessons I’m learning; for me to remember it for the future, and to bless you in your journey. So here’s to being vulnerable.
#3. Photography. I do love taking pictures! In fact my family thinks I get rather overbearing at times. but then it makes me smile when they need a picture taken, who do they ask?! 🙂 Yep, me! I love it! I do in no way consider myself a professional and have never taken any classes or studied it. Occasionally I will google what a certain term means, or I’ll ask one of my photography friends. Basically what I know is what I have seen and heard and experienced with 🙂 That’s what I feel I am doing right now, just experimenting with it and it kinda stuns me how many friends have asked me to shoot pictures for them. I’m always glad to oblige but warn them what a rookie I am! I will probably be posting most of all my pictures…just for fun:)
The first time I met Dan was in January of 2007. this will be updated later 🙂
